The Respect Life Ministry is a parish organization whose goal is to promote the Gospel of Life in and outside of our parish community through outreach, education and prayer. In this way, we fulfill the SEAS mission to “…make disciples of all…and teach them to observe all the commands I gave you."

The Respect Life Ministry meets on the 3rd Monday of each month, after evening prayer, at 7:30 p.m. to study, discuss ideas and plan activities.

Programs supported by the Respect Life Ministry

Annual Carmel Life Chain - The Carmel Life Chain is a peaceful and prayerful Christian witness against the killing of unborn children that takes place on Respect Life Sunday, the first Sunday in October from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. The Respect Life Ministry provides volunteers to pass out pro-life signs for the participants. Over 1000 Life Chains are held on this day across the USA.

Annual March for Life - The March for Life is an annual demonstration that takes place in Washington D.C. on or near the anniversary of the Roe vs. Wade Supreme Court decision that legalized abortion on demand. Pro-life supporters gather in our nation’s capital for a rally and march through Washington D.C. in an effort to end abortions in this country. The Respect Life Ministry coordinates with other parishes in the diocese to send parishioners to support this demonstration.

Baby Shower
- On or near Mother’s Day, the Respect Life Ministry sponsors a baby shower to collect baby items that will fulfill the needs of Project Gabriel.

Healing Hidden Hurts - Healing Hidden Hurts is a one-to-one peer ministry for women who have experienced pregnancy loss through miscarriage, infant loss or abortion. This 10-step process brings freedom and peace whether it's been one or thirty years. Call Debbie Miller at 317-297-7578. All calls are confidential and there is no fee.

Memorial Service for the Unborn - The Memorial Service for the Unborn takes place in January at the Indiana War Memorial Auditorium and is an inter-denominational prayer service and memorial walk to stand up for life. Parishioners are encouraged to attend this event and meet at SEAS to carpool to this event.

Natural Family Planning - Couples worldwide are choosing Natural Family Planning (NFP) for its healthful and marriage - building qualities, as well as its usefulness to plan or postpone pregnancy. Many couples are also grateful to use a family planning method that is in harmony with their religious beliefs. Since its founding in 1971, CCL has also provided instruction through NFP classes taught by professionally trained, volunteer couples who teach in their local communities. Promote a reverence for the dignity and sanctity of all human life from conception to natural death and defend life for the most vulnerable among us: the unborn, the disabled, the elderly, the sick, and the dying.

Promote and study The "Gospel of Life" by Pope John Paul II to educate ourselves and the parish about the church’s teaching on life issues including abortion, the death penalty, bioethics, euthanasia, assisted suicide and other end-of-life issues.

Spread the pro-life message through advertising.

Be informed of pro-life legislation and encourage support for Priests for Life at and Indianapolis Right to Life at

Influence politicians to vote for pro-life legislation.
